Lord Nicholas Stern joined this year the Veolia Institute's Foresight Committee and gave a special address on the 1st evening of the Institute's International Conference on Resource Availability in a Low Carbon World. He emphasized the urgency to act on climate change and noted that the coming 20 years will be crucial. He therefore replaced the debates of the conference in the wider context of climate action and underlined the necessity to increase resource productivity as a tool to mitigate carbon emissions.
